The Common University Entrance Test, known as CUET (UG) 2026, is a nationwide entrance examination organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into undergraduate courses offered by Central Universities under the Ministry of Education, along with other participating universities, institutions, autonomous colleges, and organizations.

CUET aims to create a single, transparent admission process and provide equal chances to students from all parts of the country, including rural and remote regions. Through one common exam, candidates can apply to multiple universities and colleges, making the admission process more accessible and efficient across different types of institutions such as Central, State, Deemed, and Private Universities.

For the 2026–27 academic session, the CUET (UG) 2026 examination is scheduled to be held from 11 May 2026 to 31 May 2026. This article provides complete information to help students understand the exam process, eligibility, and other important details related to CUET (UG) 2026.

Eligibility Criteria of CUET UG Exam


Age Requirement:
There is no upper or lower age restriction to apply for CUET (UG) 2026.

Educational Eligibility:
Students who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent examination, as well as those who will be appearing in the Class 12 exam in 2026, are eligible to take the CUET (UG) 2026 test. However, candidates must also meet any specific age or eligibility rules set by the university or institution where they wish to seek admission.

Year of Passing Criteria:
Conditions related to the year of passing Class 12 or equivalent will be governed by the admission rules of individual universities or institutions. Applicants are advised to check the official websites of their preferred institutions to confirm eligibility before applying.

For CUET (UG) – 2026, fees will be charged based on the number of subjects chosen by the candidates. The following fee structure is applicable for CUET (UG) – 2026 :

Scheme of CUET UG Examination

Total subjects:
37 (13 Indian languages + 23 domain-specific subjects + 01 General Aptitude Test)

Choice of Test Paper: Candidates may choose upto a maximum of five (05) subjects including languages and General Aptitude Test irrespective of the subjects opted in class XII.

Medium of the Test: 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu)

Total Questions: 50 questions for each test papers. All Question are compulsory.

Marking Scheme:
Correct Answer: 05 marks (Five), There will be negative marking for each incorrect answer of 01 (one) mark. 

Duration of Test: Duration for each test paper would be 60 minutes The examination will be conducted in multiple shifts depending on the number of candidates and their combinations. (Compensatory time for PwBD Candidates of 20 minutes for each hour).
