Salary & Benefits
Candidates selected as Section Controller will be placed in Pay Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
- Starting Basic Pay: ₹35,400 per month
- Additional allowances and benefits will be provided as per Railway rules and Government regulations.

Age Relaxation
The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved categories as follows:

Fee Refund
- Candidates paying ₹250 will receive the applicable refund after appearing in the First Stage CBT, subject to deduction of bank charges.

Selection Process
The selection process for RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026 consists of four stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
The first stage of the recruitment process is a Computer Based Test (CBT).
CBT Pattern
- Duration: 120 Minutes
- Total Marks: 100
- Mode of Examination: Online
- Question Standard: Based on the educational qualification prescribed for the post.
- Negative Marking: One-third (1/3) mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
The CBT serves as a screening examination. Candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage based on their normalized CBT scores and overall merit.
Stage 2: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Candidates shortlisted from the CBT will be invited to appear for the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
Key Details
- Around eight times the number of vacancies from each reservation category (UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, including Ex-Servicemen) will be shortlisted for this stage.
- Shortlisting will be based on performance in the CBT.
- Candidates must submit the prescribed Vision Certificate before appearing for the CBAT.
- Applicants are required to qualify in every test battery of the aptitude test.
- No negative marking is applicable in the CBAT.
Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
After the completion of the CBT and CBAT, the final merit list will be prepared using the following weightage:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): 70%
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): 30%
Based on the combined score and the candidate’s preferred Railway zone, shortlisted candidates equal to the notified vacancies will be invited for Document Verification.
During this stage, candidates must produce all original certificates and documents related to educational qualifications, age, identity, category, and other eligibility requirements.
Stage 4: Medical Examination
Candidates who successfully complete the Document Verification process will undergo a medical fitness examination as per the medical standards prescribed by the Railway Recruitment Board.
Final appointment will be subject to:
- Verification of original documents.
- Meeting the prescribed medical standards.
- Fulfilling all eligibility conditions mentioned in the recruitment notification.
