Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution approved by the Government of India.

Candidates should have their graduation degree or mark sheet available on or before 9th August 2026.


Work Experience

Candidates must have at least one year of post-qualification experience in the Clerical or Officer Cadre of any Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank listed under the Second Schedule of the RBI Act.


Age Limit

Applicants should be 20 to 30 years of age as on 1st July 2026.

Age Relaxation

Upper age relaxation is available as per Government of India rules:

  • SC/ST: 5 Years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 Years

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak the prescribed local language of the state for which they are applying.

PNB LBO Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

The recruitment process for the Local Bank Officer (LBO) posts will be carried out in multiple stages to assess candidates’ knowledge, skills, and suitability for the role. Applicants must successfully clear each stage to be considered for final appointment.

Stage 1: Online Written Examination

The first stage is an online objective test consisting of the following sections:

Negative Marking:
For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks (one-fourth of the allotted marks) will be deducted.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • General/EWS: 40% in each section
  • Reserved Categories: 35% in each section

Stage 2: Application & Document Screening

Candidates who qualify in the written examination will have their online application forms and supporting documents verified by the bank. During this stage, the bank will confirm whether applicants meet all prescribed eligibility conditions before allowing them to proceed further.


Stage 3: Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)

Applicants who have not studied the prescribed local language of their chosen state in Class 10 or Class 12 must appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT).

The test will evaluate a candidate’s ability to:

  • Read the local language
  • Write correctly
  • Communicate effectively in the local language

The LLPT is qualifying in nature, and candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks decided by the bank.


Stage 4: Personal Interview

Candidates who successfully qualify the written examination and meet the language requirements will be invited for a Personal Interview.

  • Interview Marks: 50
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • SC/ST Candidates: 22.5 marks (45%)
    • All Other Categories: 25 marks (50%)

The number of candidates shortlisted for the interview will depend on their performance in the online examination and, where applicable, the Local Language Proficiency Test.


Final Merit List

The final selection will be prepared based on the candidate’s overall performance in the Online Written Examination and Personal Interview. Candidates must also:

  • Qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test (if applicable).
  • Satisfy all eligibility conditions.
  • Successfully complete document verification.

Only candidates fulfilling all these requirements will be considered for appointment as Local Bank Officers (LBO) in Punjab National Bank.
