The UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2027 will be conducted for the following engineering categories:
Category I – Civil Engineering
Candidates with the required Civil Engineering qualification can apply for posts under this category.
Category II – Mechanical Engineering
This category is applicable to eligible candidates possessing the prescribed Mechanical Engineering qualification.
Category III – Electrical Engineering

🎯 UPSC ESE 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
Applicants must have:
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
The age will be calculated as on 1 January 2027.
Therefore, a candidate must have been born not earlier than 2 January 1997 and not later than 1 January 2006.

🎓 Educational Qualification
Candidates seeking admission to the UPSC Engineering Services Examination must possess an eligible Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
A candidate may qualify through one of the following routes:
- A degree in Engineering from a recognised university or institution established or recognised under the applicable laws in India.
- Successful completion of Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).
- An Engineering degree or diploma from a recognised foreign university, college or institution, subject to the conditions prescribed by the Government.
- Successful completion of the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
- Successful completion of the Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
- Successful completion of the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London, held after November 1959.
Additional Qualification for Certain Posts
For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’, candidates possessing certain relevant M.Sc. qualifications may also be eligible.
For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts), an M.Sc. degree or equivalent with specialisation in areas such as Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering may be accepted.
For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’, relevant M.Sc. qualifications involving Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, Radio Communication, Electronics or Telecommunication may be accepted as specified in the official notification.
