Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced admissions for the B.Ed. programme for the January 2026 session. As part of the admission process, the university will organize a nationwide entrance examination for eligible applicants.
The B.Ed. course has a minimum duration of two years, while students are allowed a maximum of five years to complete the programme.
Candidates who meet the required eligibility criteria can apply online for admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme through the official IGNOU application portal starting from 29th January 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU B.Ed Admission
Age Limit: There is no age bar for admission into the Programmes of the University.
Educational Qualification: Candidates with:
a) at least 50% percent marks either in the bachelor’s degree and/or in the master’s degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanities. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto,
and
b) The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):
(i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.
(ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through
face-to-face mode.
Entrance Test: Candidate must clear the B.Ed. Entrance Test conducted by IGNOU.
Note: The students who have done their DELED programme simultaneously with their Graduation or Masters degree through whatever combination of modes, are not eligible for admission to IGNOU’s B.Ed programme.
Examination Fee: Rs.1000/- should be remitted through payment gateway, using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by Banks in India or through online Banking.
How to Apply for IGNOU B.Ed Admission ?
Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online application; provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria as specified by the university. Here is the basic steps one need to follow to submit the online application .
Step 1: Scroll down, check Important Web-Link’s section.
Step 2: Click Online Application Form Link. The official portal will be displayed.
Step 3: The Candidate needs to register by clicking the “Register” button and providing his/her name, mobile number and a password. The mobile number will be verified through an OTP. Please remember the password for login.
Step 4: After successful registration, the candidate needs to login using his/her mobile number and the password.
Step 5: Enter all personal and educational information as required.
Step 6: Pay examination fee as per your category and submit the form .
Step 7: Also, take a print of the submitted form .
