Important Admission Rule
Applicants can choose a maximum of three programmes during the application process. The selection may include:
- One Traditional Programme, and
- Up to Two Interdisciplinary Programmes
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have completed or be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree/FYUGP programme with at least 24 credits in the relevant subject for admission to traditional postgraduate programmes.
For interdisciplinary courses, eligibility requirements may vary according to the programme.
Special Provisions
- Students appearing in the final semester examinations in 2026 are eligible to apply and appear in PGET 2026.
- Candidates awaiting final results may receive provisional admission if selected.
- Final mark sheets or grade sheets must be submitted within seven days after publication of results.
- Students with backlogs from earlier semesters can also appear in the entrance test, subject to fulfilling all academic requirements before final admission.
Mandatory Entrance Examination
Admission to postgraduate programmes under Gauhati University and participating institutions will be granted based on performance in PGET 2026. Therefore, appearing in the entrance examination is compulsory for all applicants.

Gauhati University PG Entrance Exam 2026
There will be an Entrance Test for admission into different Post Graduate Courses to be conducted by Gauhati University (both for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University) for the session 2026-2027. Admissions will be based strictly on the performance and eligibility criteria of the Entrance Examination.
