Assam Public Service Commission has released the official notification for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2026 (Preliminary). This recruitment drive offers 78 vacancies across various prestigious Group A services in Assam.
Eligible candidates can submit their applications online between 13 April 2026 and 3 May 2026.

Selection Process of APSC CCE Exam
The Combined Competitive Examination consists of following two successive stages : –
(i) The Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
(ii) The Main Examination (Written & Interview/ Personality Test)
Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
The CCE Preliminary Examination consists of two objective type multiple choice question papers of two hours duration each.

Type of questions: Objective type questions
No of question paper: 2 papers
Name of question paper: General Studies-I & General Studies-II
Total marks: 400 marks (200 marks each)
Duration of exam: 2 hours for each paper.
Negative marking: One-fourth of the total mark assigned to one question will be deducted for wrong answer marked by a candidate.

Main Examination (Written & Interview)
The Main Examination consists of
I. Written Examination and
II. Interview Test / Personality Test (After qualifying in written test)
I. Written Examination
On the basis of the result of the Preliminary Examination, the number of candidates to be admitted to the written part of the Main Examination will be 11 to 12 times the number of vacancies notified for each category. The written examination shall consist of six papers of conventional essay type/ objective type with limited words.

Medium of exam: A candidate shall be allowed to write his/her answer papers in English or Assamese language.
Total papers: 6 Papers
Total marks: 1500 Marks (250 marks each)
Duration of exam: 3 Hours for Each Paper

II. Interview Test/ Personality Test
Name of exam: CCE Main Examination (Interview)
Type of exam: Interview
Total marks: 180 Marks
Exam centre: Guwahati.
On the basis of the result of the written part of the Main Examination, candidates will be called for an interview in a ratio of 1:3 against the number of vacancies advertised.
Marks thus obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination (Written Part as well as Interview would determine their final ranking.
