Candidates who have successfully completed the required 6-month Recorders Certificate Class Course (RCCC) Training from the Assam Survey & Settlement Training Centre and have qualified in both Survey and Settlement subjects as prescribed by the department can apply for these posts.

Salary Details

Selected candidates for the post of Land Record Assistant (LRA) will receive remuneration under:

PB-2: ₹14,000 – ₹70,000 + Grade Pay ₹6,200

Other admissible allowances will be provided according to applicable government rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Applicants must be between 21 and 40 years of age as on 1st January 2026.

Relaxation in the upper age limit will be available to eligible reserved-category candidates according to the applicable Government of Assam rules.

The candidate’s date of birth will be verified using the HSLC/Class-X or HS/Class-XII Admit Card, Pass Certificate or Mark Sheet issued by a recognized Board/Council where the date of birth is clearly mentioned.

RCCC Qualification

Applicants must have successfully completed the Recorders Certificate Class Course (RCCC) Training from the Assam Survey & Settlement Training Centre, Dakhingaon, Guwahati-40.

Candidates must have qualified in the prescribed examination in both Survey and Settlement subjects, with the result officially declared by the Director of Land Records & Surveys, Assam, before the commencement of Government Notification No. LA&A/429557/158 dated 13.08.2026.

Computer Proficiency

Applicants are required to have adequate computer knowledge and must possess a minimum typing speed of:

  • English: 30 words per minute
  • Assamese/Bengali: 15 words per minute

Candidates Already in Government Service

Candidates currently working under the Central or State Government must apply through the proper channel.

Such candidates will be required to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by their respective Head of Department (HoD) during document verification.

Selection Process of LRA Recruitment

The selection process of Land Record Assistant (LRA) posts consist of following stages.

Competitive Examination


Candidates whose applications are accepted as per criteria will be shortlisted and shall be notified in due course of time. The qualified candidates will be required to appear in the competitive written examination in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) pattern.

The Written examination (Paper 1) is of total 80 marks with negative marking of 0.25 mark for each incorrect answer. The subject-wise distribution of marks for Written Examination (80Marks) is as follows:

Skill Test


The candidates shortlisted on the basis of written examination shall have to appear for Skill Test (Computer Proficiency test). 

The Skill Test (Paper–II) (20 Marks) shall be of practical nature and shall assess Assamese or Bengali Unicode typing, Basic computer operations, Document preparation and formatting, Data entry, file handling, and printing.

The final merit list shall be prepared on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Skill Test, subject to the candidate securing the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in both components and fulfillment of all eligibility conditions upon document verification .
