Applicants must be 18 to 33 years of age as on 1st January 2026.

Selection Process for RRB Group D Recruitment 2026
The selection procedure for RRB Group D (Level-1) Recruitment 2026 consists of four successive stages. Candidates must successfully qualify at each stage to move forward in the recruitment process.
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
All eligible applicants will first appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT). The examination will be conducted in online mode and will have a duration of 90 minutes. The question paper will contain 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions from different subjects.

Negative Marking
Candidates should answer carefully, as one-third (1/3) of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect response. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
To be considered for the next stage of recruitment, candidates are required to secure the minimum qualifying percentage prescribed for their category.

Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CBT performance will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). This stage evaluates the candidate’s physical fitness according to the standards prescribed by the Railway Recruitment Board.
Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
Applicants who qualify the PET will be invited for Document Verification, where all educational certificates, identity proof, category certificates (if applicable), and other required documents will be verified.
Stage 4: Medical Examination (ME)
The final stage is the Medical Examination, conducted to ensure that candidates meet the medical fitness standards specified for the post. Only medically fit candidates will be considered for final appointment.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their CBT performance will be invited to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Generally, candidates up to three times the number of vacancies (community-wise) may be called for the PET. However, the Railway Recruitment Board reserves the right to modify this ratio depending on recruitment requirements.
Note: The PET is qualifying in nature, and candidates must meet the prescribed physical standards.

Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who successfully clear both the CBT and PET will be shortlisted for Document Verification (DV). The number of candidates called for DV will generally be equal to the total number of advertised vacancies (1:1 ratio).
During the verification process, candidates must produce all original documents, including educational certificates, identity proof, category certificates (if applicable), and other documents specified by the Railway Recruitment Board.
Merit Tie-Breaking Rules
If two or more candidates obtain the same normalized score, the merit order will be decided as follows:
- The older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list.
- If both candidates have the same date of birth, the candidate whose name comes first in alphabetical order (A–Z) will be ranked higher.
Medical Examination & Final Selection
Candidates who complete the Document Verification process will undergo a Medical Fitness Examination conducted by the Railway Administration.
The final appointment will be made only after:
- Successful completion of the Medical Examination.
- Verification of educational qualifications and category certificates.
- Character and antecedent verification by the concerned authorities.
Only candidates who satisfy all these requirements will be considered for final appointment to the notified RRB Group D Level-1 posts.
